Many people come to see me to explore whether their choices are really a problem or not. Others come here because they know they no longer possess the ability to control their life and the choices they are making are leading them in a negative direction. Some come to me to do the psychological work while doing their 12 steps. Others come because they find them selves doing something that they know is not good for them but they can’t stop themselves from doing it.
What to expect from addiction therapy
I offer a non-judgmental, open approach for exploring your compulsive or possibly addictive behaviors. We’ll explore whether the negative consequences of your actions outweigh the enjoyment of your habits. If you come to a place, or are already at the place where you wish to change, I offer support and time-tested techniques to achieve a more healthy life course. Depending on your decided goals, we’ll work from an abstinence (e.g., 12 step) model and from a Harm Reduction model.Robert Mitchell PhD.
I work with people at all stages of compulsive behaviors and drug and alcohol use. If you or a loved one is struggling with compulsive behaviors (like drugs, alcohol, shopping, pornography, or internet use).
